Dear all, new to this forum and the recently bought a 2002 911 Targa.

I noticed the other day that when I start her up all the dash lights come on except the airbag light. Is this normal? My garage told me to turn it off and wait 30 secs for it to reset. I did this and turned the key one turn and it came on quickly and then turned itself straight off again.

Any experience greatly appreciated!

Richard,

The following was taken from the MY03 Carerra Owner's Manual available here on RennTech:

In the following cases you should immediately

consult an authorized Porsche

dealer in order to assure the airbag system

is functioning properly:

- Illumination of the airbag warning light during

travel or repeated illumination longer than 5

seconds after the ignition circuit is turned on.

- Illumination fails to light up during ignition circuit

activation.

I'm not sure how the U.S. manual differs from the U.K. version - other than LHD vs. RHD - but it is better than nothing if you didn't get an owner's manual with your car.

Thanks everybody, very helpful.

The airbag light will also stay on if there is a problem with the seatbelts, i.e., the system doesnt see them. I think there is a technical bullitin on the issue
