I could not find any similar codes in my shop manual. I've been getting a misfire, possibly from bad sparkplugs. I also got code P0301 and P0302 (misfire cyl 1 & 2). I have 28000mi. on the plugs.

P301 and P302 could be bad plugs, plug wires or a Variocam problem.

Hmm... P7000 and P7030 don't come up in my list not sure what they are.

Here is Porsche's list explaination:

The third character indicates the system assembly from which a fault occurred.

These are:

P01xx Fuel and

or

P02xx air metering

P03xx Ignition system

P04xx Additional emission control systems

P05xx Speed and idle air control

P06xx Computer and output signals

P07xx Transmission

The fourth and fifth characters represent the components or systems.

I did some datalogs. It has shown "Pending" codes P0301 and P0302 (misfire cylinders 1, 2) and pending codes P7000 and P7030 on other occasions. The engine usually runs strong up through second gear, but in third it misses and cuts out so badly that it won't rev much above 4200, even with full throttle. The Lambda readings go high to 1.1 - 1.3 (excess O2) when it is missing. I guess then is normal since the misfire is not burning all the oxygen(?) It runs perfectly below 3000 rpm, and the lamda stays very near 1.0.

How do I tell if it's a lean miss/ fuel starvation vs bad spark plugs?

The datalogger seems useful, but I need to find some type of tutorial on how to understand the readings.

What year turbo do you have? I recently ran into a 01 turbo with 33k miles on it, throwing a misfire code for cylinder #2. Spark plugs on 01 and older cars are only rated for 30k miles. I pulled the plugs for cylinders number one and two and holy crap, they were awful looking. We replaced his plugs and the misfires went away. I would lean towards your problem being plug related.

I would recommend taking a look at your plugs, cylinder number one is accessible without removing anything but the heat shield ( 2 10mm bolts). You'll also need a 5 or 6mm (cant remember which)allen socket to remove the coil.
