I posted here a while back on an airbag warning light on my 2002 Boxter S, and fault code on durametric of Fault 29 "Airbag failure drivers side ignition circuit"

On the advice of Lauren, (who correctly told me this was NOT the belt buckle fault) I popped the door panel off and checked the wiring to make sure it was good and plugged in-which it was.

I then called the Porsche dealership in Walnut Creek who were gracious enough to tell me to use my Durametric to clear this fault code. The reasoning behind this is the OBC will not clear fault codes on any airbag issue, even if the airbag is functioning...due to saftey concerns. The service tech asked me if i'd had work done to the door (Aha-I had a window regulator and motor replaced) and said that the shop probably diconnected the plug to the airbag which would create the fault, and then probably did not clear the fault. The time frame of the work and airbag fault is more or less a match...so...I went haead and took his advice and cleared the fault using the durametric kit. It worked. No more airbag light!

Thanks to Lauren for his advice, many thanks to the Porsche service tech ( instaed of taking my money, was a cool dude trying to help me find a solution).

Hopefuly this post helps someone down the road...by the way, the durametric kit is really cool...and now has already paid for iself.

Many thanks again,

Steve

+1 on the Durametric tool - the first time I plugged mine in it indicated that there was a MAF fault, even though my CEL was not lit. The car was still under warranty from my local OPC and they replaced the MAF without charge - performance and fuel consumption improved immediately.

If I had not bought the Durametric I would have not found the problem, so the scan tool payed for itself first time out.....
