2003 Cayenne S

Msg board displays "Warning - Brake Proportioning", ABS light on, PSM off...

Gear shift lever got locked at the "P" position. Can't drive the car.

After 5-10 mins, everything goes back to normal.

This had happened 3 times.

What had caused the problem? is it still safe to drive it?

Any relevant info is much appreciated !!

Having the exact same problem. Did you ever find a fix? Brake pressure switch? or the little electrical gizmo that's attached to the break peddle?

See the post above yours - you need to put the car a tester and see what fault codes you have.

That message is non-specific -- fault codes are specific.

Shazbut.. the closest dealer is so **** far from here. I was just hoping it would be something I could buy and replace myself. It's a full day and a work day at that, it's a real pain in the ***.

If you live that far from a dealer or competent shop I would highly suggest you buy the Durametric software - it could save you tons of money.

The "Brake Proportioning" problem later evolved into the relay switch problem at the gear shift stick. i.e. you cannot shift from "P" to any gear.

I needed to do a manul release of the gear shift stick and drive the car slowly to the service centre

Do have the car checked asap.
