Hello Renntech community.

Pierre - the Swiss 996TT guy, introduced my to this site.

I just go my 1st Porsche, a used 996 C4S and I'm super happy with it.

But, when opening the passenger door (from the inside mainly), the window is supposed to go down a few mm only but in my case the window goes down completely.

Any suggstions to fix this problem or do I have to go to the dealership? (warranty available)

I also noticed that sometimes I get a strange, very fast sound "tik-tik-tik-tik-tik".... from behind the central console (I assume some electric contacts/circuit which is going crazy). After 5-15 seconds it's gone. This happens in combination with the window issue or when I'm closing the passenger-door and removing the key.

Thanks in advance for any feedback

Cheers

David

no idea about the window, but the ticking sound comes from the in-dash cd player. I dont know why. I've had this happen occasionally, and I classify it as a "mysterious Porsche issues" item. there have been posts on this noise question before, check using the search feature. cheers, j

The window problem is caused by a malfunction of the window motor/control box combination, unfortunately, a replacement is the solution.

so nothing to worry about :)

I'll try the sarch function, but to search for "tik-tik-tik" is difficult ;)

edit: lots of "ticking" threads, but all about engine ticking so far ....

David! :welcome:

About the window: have you tried to reset it? Close the door, open the window, then close it but keep the button pressed the whole way up, plus a few seconds. I think you might hear a ticking sound (yes, yet another one!) atthis point. This is supposed to reset the window. Give it a try before heading to your dealer!

When I open my driver side door my window goes down slightly as it is supposed to. The problem is that it instantly goes up again and won't let the door close properly. Any solutions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
