The latest Western Europe Porsche maps for PCM1 in the PET parts program are 2008/9.  Part number 000.044.900.96, but very expensive.  As far as I know there is no increased functionality - just more up-to-date maps.

Richard,

Am I correct in saying that I can not upgrade the software from PCM 1 to e.g PCM 2 ?? I am new at this but thought this could be done.

PCM1 and PCM 2 are totally different - made by different companies for Porsche.

Most folks that have PCM 1 end up doing a less expensive upgrade by removing PCM1 and replacing it with a 3rd party NAV system. Do a search here as several folks have described their process.

No you can't upgrade software from PCM1 to PCM2. They are completely different hardware and software.

PCM1 is very outdated, but you might want to consider a modern 2-DIN navigation system, and it is a relatively easy fit in the earlier cars. I fitted a Pioneer system in mine and am very pleased with it.

Edit: beaten to it by Loren yet again!!

I was hoping that the system I have in the car could be updated with a newer software, but it is still unclear if and how this can be done!
