Hi

Is it, or is it not possible to reprogram the OBC (on-board computer) from US to metric system on a 1999 996?

I have a US 996, but live in europe. And I would like to have the outdoor temperature in celcius.

I find it strange that it´s not possible to toggle between US/metric on the OBC, when it´s possible on the digital gauges and on the aircon controller.

A dealer can change the instrument cluster country coding from US to Europe, that will change the units for you.

I have done this on my 2003 986 which is now in the UK.

Can anyone confirm that this can be done to the early models as well (1998-2001)?

I made a phone call to my local P dealer, and they said it´s not possible.

I don't think so. The later (dot matrix - MY02 and newer) clusters were able to be programmed for different countries and the early type (LED).

The older style clusters were country specific.
