An '05 Carrera GT's battery died(5mo in storage without trickle charging). When charging(12V/15Ah), the right rear tail light "lights" and all interior warning lights "light" when the car is entered during charging. Upon full charge(as indicated by the battery charger unit) the battery tests "completely discharged" and the unit fails to show any sign of battery life. Is it safe to "boost" the car and drive(ie: do any of the car's operating features depend on battery integrity or can they function with alternator input only)?

I would not risk damage by trying a boost start - too much potential damage including an exploding battery.

I would remove and replace the battery where it is.

You will want an 80AH battery of the same size and post layout.

Also a good idea to inspect the battery support (mounting) at that time.

Do not boost the vehicle as you risk damage to other components. After the battery is replaced invest in a battery maintainer. Where are you located?

Battery has always been the issue. Porsche don't seem to find a replacement Gel battery like BMW did. It would be the ideal solution.

I would recommend that you change your battery, buy a Porsche trickle charger and keep it connected at all time when the car is parked. Regards
