It's that time - I've had the 2004 TT X50 for 2 months now, and I'm looking at flashing the ECU. The Softronic deal looks very interesting, I wonder if you guys have comments/observations regarding throttle response improvements.

While I love the "light blue touch paper and retire" feeling when the turbo's kick in, I find that the throttle still feels a bit "heavy". Especially when compared to my M3 in Sport mode. I have heard that the Softronic throttle maps are a significant improvement in this area. Anyone have first hand experience??

I would consider EPL. I have flashed my car with both companies and EPL is far superior IMO. Tony is the best in the business when it comes to tuning. The only problem I had with the flash is I also did an exhaust and the combo made so much TQ and HP that I burnt my clutch out in under 10K miles. I've done a bunch of other mods andc now have a stage 3 clutch and LWFW.

Well, I went ahead and installed the Softronic software. There were a couple of minor glitches, and I was a little surprised to find that the PC performing the upgrade needs to have access to the internet while it's happening (good job my wireless net extends to the driveway), however Softronic in general, and April in particular were enormously helpful. After 2+ hours of nail-biting while the download speed steadily got slower, it finally announced "Complete".

Wow!! Pretty much everything I hoped for. I haven't been on a dyno, but there's definitely more power - much more important is the throttle response, and smoothness of power delivery compared to stock, the extension on the rev limiter doesn't hurt either :-). In short, the car now feels like it was meant to. I love it, worth every penny.
