Brian do you still have any of these shafts available? I think I have the stem - the one with the clock face on it. How could I replace this on the cluster?

Thanks

I could use a pair of shafts/ pins for a "new style" 996 Carrera cluster.....

i think it best to send him an email - Brian does not frequent the board much.

Brian sells the stems (there is no part#, Porsche does not sell them despite that they are junk plastic and break easily)...stem caps can be purchased too (part# is 99664191100) if you needed that too but this is separate from the stem itself.

Any luck finding a stem supplier? Need one here.

I believe that the part number: 996.641.911.00, refers to the knobs that slip onto the ends of the shafts. The shafts themselves are not available from Porsche or VDO. Brian2034 and sacrificial, used clusters are the only "games in town" if you want to replace a broken shaft. Brian answers PM's.

Sorry guys I'm not on the site very often!

Thank you Loren for pinning the thread, owners can pm me through the forum or use the email below

I do have cluster stems available and from what I can see from the sales the stems fit most if not all Porsche models produced.

I have never had a complaint of a fitment issuse, actually have never had a complaint or a return of a stem ever.

I have to thank the people on this forum for supporting me and their help

Shafts are $39.95 plus $6.95 shipping with free shipping on any additional

shafts purchased.

I accept Paypal, check, money order and cash.

I ordered one of these shafts a while back (probably 2010) and it did not work for my 2000 Boxster. To be fair, I discussed it with Brian before and he was upfront about telling me that he did not know if it would work on my model and had never confirmed if it would or not, but I gave it a shot anyway and it didn't. So, unless there has been an update to the design, they don't work on the 2000 Boxsters from my experience. If someone has had these work on a 2000 Boxster, please let me know because I still have this part and would love to be able to adjust my clock without reseting the battery every start/end of daylight savings!

I did it on my 996. Works and better than a broken one....but not as good as the original stem. Really sucks Porsche didn't sell these separately given that they are cheap plastic.

I found this thread from a blind internet search last year.  After a long procrastination, I contacted Brian recently and ordered two shafts for my wife’s 2003 986 S.  Just finished installing them, and they actually feel much more sturdy than the originals.  Thanks Brian, and everyone who posted here.  Saved me a bunch of time and money.
