I've had an '03 996 Targa for 4-5 months. About 2 months ago, I started noticing a lot of squeaks coming from the front end of the roof when the top was closed. Those persist, but now there are also knocking sounds coming from the driver A pillar and the passenger rear pillar whenever I drive over small bumps. All these sounds go away when the roof is open (and she drives like a jem).

My dealer said they needed to take the whole roof mechanism apart, determine if new parts were needed (possibly taking up to 2 weeks to arrive), and try to rectify the problem.

Has anyone had similar problems? If so, what was the issue? Any simple fix ideas?

hi,

my have had some small noises first. after readjusting the roof all squeaks are gone!

i think it is not a good idea to reassemble the roof mechanism - readjust it, use some (not to much) silicone to make the sealings slippery - that must be the deal...

Thanks for the reply. What do you mean by readjusting? Just lubricating?

Apart from squeaks, I also get knocks that seem to come from the front and rear pillars. It seems like something more involved to me.

hi,

your dealer can adjust the high of the glas parts and the position from each part to the other!

it sounds for me that everything is a little bit to high/streng.
