Rear Consoel Removal (For Dummies)

This is a bit embarrasing.

I bought a beautifully-painted rear console for my 07 Boxster S from BumperPlugs and need to install it (so I can finally send the old one to Eric). I've got the B&M short shifter instructions but cannot manage to get past the first step -- removal of the leather boot. .... Where is the clip? Under the leather on the right? Do I release it by finding it through the leather, or do I push on the plastic ring that the leather is attached to?

9x7 series cars fit very tight if they have not ever been removed.

Lift from the front of the car to the back (kind like hinged). Use protect cloth and plastic trim tools to prevent any damages.

Harbor Freight - I think they are usually on sale for $4.99
