I’m thinking about adding another Porsche to our garage. Does anyone have information about the 998? When dealers can take orders and what versions will first be available?

Although nothing official has been released that I know of, the latest PIWIS II update software documentation lists a new model, the 9x1 for MY 2012. I'm guessing that will be the new model designation for the 911.

And a friend admonished me for taking mine out in the rain today! Is the motor still behind the rear axle like an old Vee Dub? That big lump in the back must be camouflage. Aside from that though, it sure looks good, even as a cab.

I couldn't wait so I bought a turbo cab that you can see on the turbo page.

My new plan is to wait till there is a 998 turbo probably in 3-4 years and trade to that.

After talking to several dealers it became clear that nobody really knows when the 998 will be available and why go through another summer without my own cab!

Wife won't share.

Must be nice. And it looks like you keep the lids down in anything but pouring rain and blizzards. Good boy. Oh, and the 998 is indeed still rear engined, but I think Porsche's got it right by now; I swapped ends only once, and that was on the track with the PSM off. Congrats. Edited by 355bhp
