at 85-95mph. Yes balanced and aligned...

Once I noticed that, it's growing on me.

One BMW mechanic told me it's common problem of Porsche/BMW (which I doubt), and sugguested to learn to live with it. The problem is people wasted lots of time and money to find the cure, and ended up with nothing.

Anyone experienced same problem with any possible solution?

Or any recommendation of good Porsche mechanic (San Jose, CA) who are familiar with this???

go to a GOOD alignment shop [Custom Alignment in Bay Area] have them check it for you. What I found to be my problem aside from old tires and bad balancing...was the control arms. I had mine replaced after 86k and the car feels so nice, no vibration.

custom alignment 650 961 3938 $100 front $100 back for alignment...~$56 for balancing all 4

I noticed a similar thing. I have 99' with 21k miles. I have the 18" turbo twist wheels. I had Porsche check it out, and they road tested it and checked all the suspension and steering. They said everything was fine and any vibrations are just the road and the responsivness is what is felt in the steering wheel. It is hard to say if it is just feedback from the road, because I have never owned a sports car and my last car, a Jeep Wrangler has steering that feels very disconnected. I don't know how bad your vibrations are, but the feedback i feel is only noticeable at speeds above 20mph. It does not seem to worsen as I go faster, and it never violently shakes even at 120mph (kids, do not try this at home :)) One thing i did notice, during high speed turns, the feedback is defninitely lessen.

I would like to try putting some 17"'s on to see if it feels the same, because the 18"'s are so low profile, i thought that might be part of it.

Today I tried Hwy280(vibration in Hwy101 where I commute).

I pulled the steering wheel all the way toward me before driving to see it makes any difference. OK it sounds somewhat ridiculous, but guess what.

NO VIBRATION whatsoever up to 110mph.

So it's merely about road condition or steering wheel position has to do with it.

I will try again Hwy101 again tomorrow with agjusted steering wheel position to see what happens.

your Porsche needs to be aligned to Porsche specs and the car properly weighted per porsche specs to get a correct alignment.

Also age and wear of tires have a big impact on vibrations. porsches have a tendency to settle and cause the inside of the tires to wear uneven. I have seen the outside of the tire have 5-6 32nds left and the inside edge to cord.

Also the tire treads will pick up a wiggle in them which also causes vibrations. the larger the wheel 18 19 inch you have less tire to soak up vibrations

Let us know how this works out - some freeways are incredibly bad. There is a stretch of I10 near Riverside that has made me get out and check for a flat tire more than once, but I only drive it a couple of times per decade, so each time it has been in a different car and surprises me. :oops:
