Hi,

Just had a part replaced underneath my 99 boxster and the tech told me that he say "a little bit of oil" in one of the seals, he said that it's not serious though.

Is it important to replace the seals? He said it owuld cost about 350 to replace it all.

Can this turn into a huge problem that will be undetected until it's too late?

I have like no money left so please let me know what I should do!

thanks.

Do you see anything on the floor [overnite], or do you have any burning oil smells coming from your car.

If you are not dripping any significant amount, you may not worry to much until it gets bad. Some smalls leaks never get bad.

On my '03 2.7l, I noticed an oil stain towards the left rear wheel and also on the seal or bolt kinda thing just above that spot. I have never seen any spills or leaks on the drive way or garage floor. This spot is really old I guess since its all sticky and when I rubbed my finger over it all I could pick up was dirt. Could this something that need immediate attention ? The car has 11k miles on it and is almost due for its 15k service

Sorry,

The part replaced was the "Oil Separator"

The tech said that when he was replacing this, he saw a small leak from one of the seals.

I was told that it would cost 340 bucks to replace all the seals, etc.

No oil drips onto my driveway.

Thanks.

The question still stand, which seal?

One thing for sure it is not the rear main seal, or the quote would have been more in the order of 1350$ not 350$.....
