ok have a 05 carrera s currently wearing michlin pilots 295/30/19 on rear and 235/35/19 on the front

friends have p-zeros, i had bridgestones on my ol 996 i do the like handling with the michlins are the pilot 2's better ...... also liked continentals in past is the sport 3 good... whats best if any for wear and ride and grip these currents tyres are noisy i think........ on another thread i read heare some people are saying cheap or expensive they all wear out as each service is due..... obviously dont want to compromise grip tho so not looking to save just get grip with good value.... look forwrad to hearing your views

I'm sure most tire comments will be pretty much subjective.. I think they are both great tires.

I had both P0's as well as PS2's on my 2001 Boxster S. Hands down I preferred the PS2. They "felt" better.

The PS2 may be a bit noisier. Hard to really compare.

The feeling I had with the PS2 on the Boxster is much the same on my C2S.

I have Pirelli tires on now. They have a hardness ratio

of 220.

The Michelins have a hardness ratio of 140.

I ran Yokohamas and the had a hardness ratio of 120.

Never ran the michelins Pilot cup but they have a hardness

ratio of 80.

I am happy with the Pirelli's.

The yokohamas wore out to quick but they handled great.

Look at the hardness ratio and the dollar value

to figure out where you want to be.

well there you go learn somethnig new everyday never new about that but it makes a lotta sense.. i assume hardness effects grip so are pirellis crap in the wet or on a track ? ive been seeing more about tyre wall hardness lately being the latest thing from tyre manufactures is this the same ?

You should be able to answer any questions. Tires are relatively complicated and have a variety of attributes that affect ride, tread wear, traction, heat, load range, etc..

Good information at the link above. Ultimately you will want to consider what is right for you, and it will help to know what the tire specs mean. Lots of things affect the ride,

including size and aspect ration. The rubber compounds and treadware rating (which I think is what you are talking about regarding hardness of tires??) Basically the tread wear

rating is an indication of the rubber compound used and expected life of a tire...Typically harder rubber compounds are less "sticky" but last longer. Softer compounds get "sticky",

offer better traction, but leave lots of tire on the road as you drive and thus have a shorter life. The aspect ratio also affects the ride. Keeping width constant at 295 (as in

295 45 ZR 19) the "45" is the ratio which is the sidewall height relative to the width...So....A 295 45 tire has a sidewall height of ~ 133 mm. If you change to a 295 30 series your

sidewall will decrease to ~89 mm so less give and harder ride (but better cornering due to the lower sidewall offering less roll)...

Hope this helps a little. There is a lot of good info to consider. And ultimately personal preference is key.
