Well another item noticed by the stealership. They saw some coolant crystals under the engine and concluded that the coolant pump needs replacement. Why maybe the sealing is broken? They said that it was better to do so.

Does this make sense?

A failure is MUCH more expensive than a replacement. My indy charged me $600 to do the water pump on my wife's '99, which started dripping about a week after we bought it (of course).

My understanding is that it's easy enough to do DIY if you want to save some cash.

You need to pull the lower panel and have a look with a good flashlight; it there are signs of seepage from the weep hole on the bottom of the pump, you are in the market to replace it before it strands you somewhere not so nice.................

A bit late reply.

The Boxster did 34K (kilometers) and is from 2005. My wife drives the car mostly and don't push it at all. During summer (Dubai is hot) we don't drive it.
