This is an excellent guide, but I have a 2007 997-2 and there are no eight screws present to remove the air filter housing. Do you have a similar guide for replacing the filter on the 2007 997-2?

A 2007 997 is a 997-1.

excellent illustration.

congratulations.

Can we upgrade to a BMC or K/N filter ? Surely we can, but will they have the plastic extension to seat and secure the filter ?

May be worth a look into >

Any suggestions...

Not sure about BMC, but K&N is not an upgrade.  You may get more air flow, but you also get your intake coated with oil and dirt, which makes it's way into your engine.  I know that Ram/Cummins will void your warranty if they find you use K&N.

In reality, there is little, if any, evidence that either of these filters flow any better than factory over time, and they do let a lot of crap get by in the process.  They do make more noise, if that is a factor.
