Hello guys,

Does anybody runs iridium ix bkr6ex / 6418 ngk plugs on 996 turbo and what would need to be gap for plugs for 996 turbo/slightly modified evt 500.

Thanks,

Neno

Sorry, I would not run anything other than Bosch FR6LOC plugs. Gap @ 0.028.

IMO the Irridum electrode is too thin to handle boosted applications.

Thanks BD,

NGK states that iridium ix is actually best plug for vehicles with higher than normal boost and so far no evidence of iridium tip problems.Reason i am considering this plugs is i am doing upgrade from 500bhp to 640bhp and my boost is going to move from 1-1.3bar .I have BOSCH plugs at present but i am trying to upgrade to colder plugs as NGK IRIDIUM or DENSO DOUBLE PLATINUM.

First ask your tuner. I for one use the Bosch FR6

NGK is concerned with selling plugs. They'll claim a lot. I'd not gamble with them, based solely on the time involved with swapping plugs on these cars...

Bosch FR6 for mine, no question.

I replaced my bosch plugs with colder BKR7 NGK plugs and they work well with my 996TT. Colder plugs are recommended for hotter turbo engines. The car runs smoother and acceleration response is much better. Bosch plugs are good but I think Japanese NGK plugs are better based on experience. Its cheaper too and doesnt foul right away.
