I have a 1999 996 Carrera 4 Coupe Tip. Does anyone know if both ABS and PSM warning lights coming on at the same time signifies a specific problem or could it be any one of several causes?

:welcome:

Please give our Search a try next time as this has been discussed many times.

Two most common problems:

bad brakes light switch - check your brake lights, if they do not come on when the brake is pressed then that is likely your problem.

bad MAF - a bad Mass Air Flow sensor (or disconnected one) will also cause this.

If it is neither one of those then you will likely need a scan tool like the Durametric software, a Porsche PST2, or Porsche PIWIS tester to examine the ABS and PSM faults.

when this happened to me it turned out to be an alternator issue. replaced the alternator and battery and problem has not reoccured to date.....knock on wood. good luck....

2002 C2 6 speed

In my case, the fault code indicated a steering angle calibration error. I suspected low voltage and the problem went away when I replaced the battery. Hasn't re-occurred in the past year.
