Clunking sound on reverse

I have started to hear a cluncking sound when I engage the reverse gear; I thought that might be a unique case but I was surprised that other owners are hearing the same sound. Is this a common issue? and if so, is it normal or can it be fixed?

I also hear a very annoying squeeling sound from the discs at very low speed since the car was new. I have also changed front discs recently yet the sound is still there. Is this common?

I am sorry to have been asking so many questions but I am so happy that I have finally found a forum for Cayenne owners that is both professional and friendly

I am not familiar with the clunk noise but would inspect all the engine/transmission mounts and also the driveshaft centre brng assembly. As for the brakes, they often make noise and a few hard stops usually clears that up.

Mine doesn't clunk, doesn't clunk usually mean the synchro going out on auto tranny?

Does it also clunk even after warm up or just in the morning?

No synchros in an automatic gear box.

before you release the foot brake when stop, try push the side brake first, it will resolve the problem in most cases.

I have noticed the same thing with my 2004 CTT if I try to put it into reverse right after I start the car. If I wait 3-4 seconds after starting, put into reverse and hold the brake for an extra second or two - no noise. Maybe the beast needs a few seconds to stretch before hitting the road :)
