i have gotten 2009 maps for PCM3. i am not sure if i mess up something if i put dvd into the unit. anybody has any experiene with this? some dealers told me a firmware on PCM3 has to be upgraded but to what version? i now have v.1.10. if there is firmware upgrade anyone knows part number?

I think the newest navigation update for PCM 3.0 is using the new "model year A" maps. Your system version must be V1.40 or higher. If the system is lower PCM3.0 must be updated using the system software PCM3.0 V1.4 update CD.

The part number for the update is 955 044 905 41

PCM was upgraded by dealer to v1.40 , i also separately bought DVD with 2009 maps (the one that states on the cover "do not give to customer"). me being silly thought that now i can just put 30 Euro DVD into upgraded PCM and have my maps upgraded, but...:(

PCM gave a message that "database is not enabled or something like that " and spat out DVD. Does anybody know what the story is. Do I have to get some code every time to upgrade maps?

BTW. upgrade firmaware to 1.40 didnt solve a problem of PCM switching off for no reason

Is the process not that, if the car is equipped with a PCM 3.0 HIGH system (voice control/40GB hard drive/TV/etc.), the unit becomes updated with a PIWIS subject a payment? I never did it, cause there was no update available at that time.

It appears that all the Porsches with PCM 3.0 and Nav will be buying yearly update CDs for $459 (link is here) and then paying the dealer another $100-$200 to install it.

Is there any other solution?

someone has to crack PCM software for that (this disks are in PET for $30 each) so I would guess that Sunset disk includes unlock code for that price.

from SunCoast:

Special Note: dealer installation and activation required, early production vehicles may need the V1.4 software update. This item is not returnable under any circumstance. File photo shown.
