wanted to check the battery, but couldn't find anything useful in my tool box to remove the bolts. guess i need to buy a new tool...

also in the owners manual, it calls for new bolts and 37ftlb torque to install, while in the service manual, 33ftlb is needed and no new bolts are required.

Looks like an external torx socket, good set costs about $20-30 at Sears and other outlets.....

The bolt shown in your pic needs a triple square allen key instead of Torx.

10 mm triple square. Also known as a XZN. Don't try to use anything else; you will strip it. Also, service manual calls for new bolts to be installed but you can use the old bolts with a little loctite threadlocker.

thanks for all the input ;)

i had no luck of finding those at any of the local stores

probably just order a set online like these:

triple square set

I think Amazon has the best price on these. Try the RennTech Amazon store - link at the top of each page under the Special Offers menu

make sure to use triple square, not hex bolt. it is on very tight and the bolt is made of aluminum. hex will strip it.

Triple hex needed. Easily bought on ebay. In a pinch you can get away with torx, but be very gentle and only if not too tight.

From the picture, I can't tell if it takes the male bit or the female socket. Edited by nhirsch

Takes a 10mm female triple square XZN socket.
