Another Switched Power Thread

Hi there

Yes, I've read all postings about it. I just came back from a few hours of work on my car (996 Turbo, 2002 model, PCM1, Telepone built in, Europe version (Swiss)).

I searched for switched power:

1. the phone connector everybody mentiones is of course connected somewhere into PCM well up where I don't get to it - and plugged in

2. none of the free fuse sockets are switched! all are always on

3. the cigarette lighter next to PCM is always on

My plan is to hook up my TomTom (2A) and two mobile phones to switched power. What options do I have? Grab power from an existing fuse but which one that has enough power for more devices?

Why not connect it to the switched supply for the PCM? That's the orange wire going to pin 3 of the blue connector.

Alternatively, you could splice in to the bottom connection of fuse E1, or to bridge plug 13/1 on the relay panel.

I finished my little project today with adding an extension fuse box. I tapped into the seat heating fuse to do that which is switched. The extension box I placed behind the factory fuse box and secured it with duct tape and ran the wire behind the carpet to the center console. Attached a few pictures to highlight.
