I am trying to take the rearview mirror off but the instructions i found shows turning it 90 degrees but there is a wire that runs up to the light by the sunroof so I am afraid to run it 90 degrees. Anybody got input?

:welcome: :welcome: No help, but glad to have you here asking. Did you try a search? I think it has been covered along with removing the mount from the windshield.

I did a search and that is where I got the picture but all i can find shows a stand alone mirror and mine has a connection that runs to the reading light area.

I got the repair manual in front of me and there is no mention about the wire. But there has to be one for the mirror dimming system....

If your car is a 996 it may well have the oem version of the non-dimming mirror. If so that mirror is removed by sliding it down from its mount. You can check it by removing the plastic around the base on the OEM version.

I had a windshield replaced not too long ago, and I would recommend you call a high end windshield or auto glass shop and ask them. Mine has the auto dimmer in it along with the rain sensor so there has to be wires going to it and they'd know where they are and what it takes to do what you're doing.
