Hello All. I had to take my 2009 C2S out last night for a 9pm ride. needed to clear my head. probably lIke most of you, i rarely have any music on as I love to hear the naturally aspirated engine sing instead. I noticed that there was some "squeaking" around the dash area. I came to find out that the 5 dial instrument cluster is the culprit. The plastic base around it seems cheap to me, however it seems to rub against the cluster housing or something & squeaks. Anyone else noticed this? any remedies?

Congrats on the car! I would take it to the dealer and see if there is a TSB for that issue. I remember that the 997-1 had a lot of issues with noises (sqeaks, rattles) that came for the Sport Chrono clock. I believe the dealer had a TSB for that.

It's under warranty so have them deal with it. At least you know where the rattle is coming from. A lot of times they (rattles) are phantoms and will never make a noise when you want them to. :o

Good luck!

I have noticed the same rattle/crackling on my 997 Turbo. I can actually just push on the bottom a little and it stops. Under warranty too, but seems like every time the dealer fixes something they damage something else :) I was thinking of popping it off and just insulating it witha little felt? Sounds like the plastic is rubbing together to me.....Agree with you...the top is all covered in stitched

leather...even the chrono clock...then plastic on the bottom ? :)

I've noticed the same thing on my 09 C4S. Annoys me a lot. I have pressed on everything within reach and can't get it to stop. I would love to know if someone figures out this minor but annoying problem. My dealer's response to everything seems to be "we reloaded the software" and "we will contact Porsche about it and let you know if we hear anything back". I'm due soon for 20K service - maybe I will ask them about it. Who wants to place bets on whether or not they fix it?

My 2009 997.2 "30 days to service" light has come on. I'm at 1750 miles. Will get the squeaks addressed. Any special recommendations other than an oil change? Ask about software, anything else? Thanks for the help; sorry if a slight stray from the topic.

This is my 4th Porsche and I still can't wait to drive it every day. Midnight blue C2S.

let us know hoe effective the dealership is in removing the squeaks! Ever thought about getting the 3m invisible tape installed - if you have not already?
