Hello All,

While changing the air filter today on my 3.6 I noticed a weep of oil from the front of the engine behind a pulley. Some photos attached - any advice on what component could be the source would be great - I am new to Porsche.

I am up to date with IMS / RMS history and the 2005 negative bias. According to the Porsche shop manual my engine number indicates I have the newer PTFE Crankshaft sealing ring and also (I think) the updated IMS bearing cover.

Thanks

Normal procedure is the clean the oil off - run the car for a few minutes to get it warm and then try to location the source of the leak.

That is what I would do.

It's not RMS from the location of the oil residue. RMS leakage typically occurs between the transmission housing and the motor block (front of motor).

Loren suggestion of cleaning that area and then inspecting it after you run for a while is right on.

It looks like you may have a power steering leak. The big silver pulley in the middle of your picture is the power steering pulley. Hows your fluid level looking in the reservoir?
