997 gt3 tyres

I have just committed to buy a 2007 997 GT3 and while i have been using Porsches for many years, this is the first time i will be using a GT3. I noticed that the standard tyres are Michellin Pilot Sports semi slicks. Can I use Bridgestones? I have been using S02, SO3 and RE050 for my previous cars. I don't go to the track very often. I can imagine that the Michellin semi slicks would be great on track. It rains frequently here and I worry about the Michellin Club Sports in the wet. If possible, I would like to change to tyres that won't be that tricky in the wet. Anyone with useful advise here?

Bridgestone yes, as long as they are N-rated. Prevailing knowledge seems to be the RE11 for dry/wet street and occasional track use. Do a search on Google for more opinions.

Michelin Cup is for Track only, undrivable in the rain.

Pirelli PZero Corsa, good for track and everyday. Little less grip on track than Cup.

Pirelli PZero, good for everyday, less than Corsa on track.

Pirelli Nero: bad

Pirelli Rosso: bad

Bridgestone RE050: Good for everyday, less than PZero on track.

I use Corsa for everyday and it is a good compromise. I heard the new Cup+ is not bad but I am waiting to test the new Pirelli Tropheo.

The Pirelli Corsas are indeed a great compromise for more road oriented use. I have them on my Clubsport. They offer excellent grip throughout and do a great job in the rain also (sufficient tread depth). In comparison the Michelin Sport Cups are too extreme if you spend most of your time driving roads - and also they wear off more quickly, with their 3mm tread depth only). On a dry track they are supreme obviously, second only to slicks .

By the way, it's great to be back on the forum since a long time .
