I have a 2003 Boxster that the previous owner had modified with something and he/she did not leave any notes on what was done. Before I go removing things I thought I would see if anyone might be able to identify what was installed. The installed fuse is a one amp fuse and the item up by the mirror is attached with Velcro and has no identification. I have looked over the dash and cannot see any other connectors or extras. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Ignore my original post, I didn't read it all the way through. I have no idea what that is, it could be an aftermarket sensor of some kind, but I have never seen anything like it. Maybe a rain sensor?

It does look like a sensor of some sort? And the first picture is just jumping power from other fuses. Just a guess that it may have been some hands free phone device (looks like a microphone), or it could be a remote radar detector? Those are the two most likely....Just unplug that fuse and see if you notice anything different.

Good luck!

Thanks for the ideas. I do not have the name of the previous owner and the service department I got from carfax will not release the name because of privacy concerns.I shall give it a day or two and if nobody has an ID I shall start removing panels and see where the wires lead.

I know in my "06 C4 I used the hot side of unused fuse slots for my Garmin and Radar detector. The wires might be routed in the space at the top and sides of the windshield. At least that's where I routed mine.

Yes it is a Nokia handsfree phone kit possibly a Bluetooth one. Try to latch to it with your phone. I think the access code is 1234 as a default. If it’s been done well it will mute the speakers and route the audio through the cars speakers.

Thank you for all of the responses. It is a Nokia HFU-5 that was taped up under the radio. Lots of wires and I have about half of them removed. Again, Thanks for the help.
