So last night I go to clean my windshield and the wipers get half way up the windshield and they just stop. I try again and they just slowly pulse back and forth 6 inches either way in the middle of the windshield. Would people agree that i need to replace the wiper motor or could it be somethimg else.

Thanks

Andy

Just a quick question. With the vehicle running and the front hood closed, do the wipers still continue to fault? If yes then i would disconnect the wiper arm linkage from the motor to rule out a seizing wiper arm spindle.

The wipers will move if I help them along, the motor sounds very weak. It does'nt take alot of pressure on my part to pull the wipers along. Itried getting to the motor last night but could not pull the wiper arms off. Anybody taken those off before?

Remove the retaining nut on the spindle and gentle rock the wiper arm back and forth. Be careful as the wiper arm can easily be bent. It sounds like the motor has failed and will need replacing.

Hello Tonga3,

The exact same thing is happening to my 04 Cayenne. Can you confirm how you resolved the issue?

Thanks,

Mark

I ended up having to replace the whole wiper assembly.

I think the part was a little over $200(can't remember) It would be an easy fix except some of the pieces which had to come off were seized and required a very small puller (which I didn't have) to remove. I think labour was an hour.
