Hi Gang

I have been lurking for a while absorbing all the knowledge on this great site. We are interested in buying a new Carrera - strongly leaning towards a 4.

The dealer we contacted first said that they don't anticipate any new 911s for about 6 month due to lower sales last year. Then he checked on cars close to our specks and said one was on the boat but didn't know if it was pre-ordered or available.

Hard to tell if dealer is blowing smoke to clear inventory, or if this was a fluke.

We are trying to decide if we should wait and try to order what we want or pick from what they have.

Does anyone know the current status of production of 911s?

Thanks for your help

I have pretty good information since I bought my car a couple of weeks ago and talked to about 8 dealers about production this year.

It appears that production has been cut but I don't know by how much. Two of the dealers that I spoke to had March builds still open. Others had no slots until the fall.

I have been told that Porsche ended up not too badly and that December numbers were quite good. Dealers said that a lot of people thought that Volkswagon had always owned Porsche!

I ended up buying a car off the lot that was a little nicer than what I had configured at a great price. I'll try to post some pics in a few days.

What I bought:

2010 4S Cab

Cream White

Cocco top

Cocco leather

Makassar Wood

PDK

Sport Chrno

Sport Exhaust

Turbo Wheels

and a few other things

OK OK allready. I'll try for some tonight in the garage.

I got the car on Saturday, drove 12 miles and it hasn't stopped snowing. It was a great 12 miles.

Thanks #3 Very good info.

Dealer came up with a Silver metallic model on the boat with most everything we wanted and a couple of things we didn't realize we wanted :)

Maybe its not that smart to hold out for exactly what we wanted when he has come so close.

We were wanting green or dark blue paint and dynamic cornering lights but can probably live with this quite well.

The prospect of waiting several months for minor differences may not be a great choice.

Thanks for your incite.

Hi Don:

THEY WILL DRIVE YOU CRAZY!

A couple of years ago I was about to order a turbo and had a complete meltdown. After learning that there is a small 2 inch part between the shifter and the dash and the price for this part in leather was $400. I lost it and just to spite them I cancelled my order and bought a CL63.

I have attached the 42 page detailed order guide for the 911 Cab. I hope that Volkswagen straightens this out and simplifies the process. Like other cars there should be option packages that group together stuff.

Thanks #3

I agree, they have gone a little far in my opinion with the number of customizing options available. It makes it very confusing when most of us could do very well with a few packages.
