I have just purchsed an 06 Boxster S with 13000 miles on it, one owner. The previous owner drove the caenr pretty hard, but had it serviced at 10,000 miles. When I park the car, I can detect an odor of oil. Is there an area where the engine is prone to leak, or is this normal ?

Check for oil on the floor for leaks. Smell could be from overfilling oil at last service. Any smoke?

No smoke. Oil was changed at 10500 miles, car has 12900 on it, when I run the oil check thru the computer, it is at the second line from the top. Not really sure what that means. Going to get it serviced and looked over for leaks. Maybe just my imagination. Thanx

Not an old car but the oil separator valve sometimes sticks and car can suffer from oil getting into the inlets .....and fouling up the system......in extreme cases it kicks smoke out of the exhaust.....it looks frightening......but the pvc valve is around a hundred quid and can be fitted by a good mechanic for around the same....this will leave a residual oil smell....which hangs around for a while when part fitted......goes after a few miles ...its just where oil has accumulated in the exhaust.....
