Hello Everyone,

Can someone please help me? My recently purchased 996 (1998) has PCM 1, however everytime I go to use the Sat Nav it says "CD is Upside Down" even though its not ? Does anybody know of a fix? (I've copied the sat nav disc and tried it on a new one and that doesn't work).

Thanks for your help.

Is it the original disk or a copy?

It's the original disk - which I've also copied and tried (to eliminate the disc element).

Perhaps PST2/PIWIS can reset this.

Is this a laptop based thing or something I can do at home? (willing to try anything!!!)

I'm wondering whether the CD reader laser has failed or perhap's the motor which turns the cd has stopped working?

PS No other issue apart from sat nav (yes it can play audio cd)

If you can play audio CD, use a well working NAVI CD from a friend or neighbor to check it out, your NAVI CD is probably damaged or unreadable. NAVI CD copies can destroy the PCM unit (if you are able to make one, despite the build in security's)

PST2 & PIWIS are Porsche diagnostic tools....either a dealer or some indy's would have it. If it plays cds, I would think mechanically it is OK.

Pushing Main and Trip buttons shows what?

Try hitting the set button with the Nav screen showing, then hit restore factory and then map....

or try disconnecting the battery for a few hours...(remember to have your radio unlock code first).

Thanks Wross I'll give that a shot. Thank you for all your kind help.
