Lower Air deflectors

Apologies if this has been covered, but I searched for 'flap', 'deflector' etc.

I'm talking about those little flaps that sit in front of the front wheels, from the front of the wheel arch: What do they do and what would happen if I remove them?

The reason I ask is that I'm about to get some after market splitters which would require the removal of them - and having noticed them on practically every Porsche in my local dealers today, I'm wondering if this is a wise move.

They help creates vacuum, and prevents air turbulence from the front wheels, for easier escape of hot air behind the radiators.

Lots of cars use the little deflectors in front of the front wheels. They probably help with evacuating the radiators and improve drag from the front tires a little. You most likely won't see a difference without them. I'd bet that alot of people are driving around with them broken off or missing and would never notice.
