When I had my clutch replaced at a shop that specializes in german autos, I got it back and the driveshaft to the driverside rear popped off the transmission. The dumb mechanic forgot to torque the bolts to the tranny. I took it back and had it repaired. About 2 months later I decided to have the rear lifted and check to see if any damage was done to the tranny. I put it in 1st gear and both wheels spinned, so I took hold of the driver side rear tire the one that the shaft had popped off and it stopped rotating and the passenger rear tire started spinning faster. I can change the the spinning direction of the driverside once I have a hold of it. I also notice that the tire treads on the passenger rear are wearing out more than the driver. I had all 4 wheels aligned. My question is, is that normal in these cars and does both wheels spin when accelleratey?

Its a normal behavior since the car is not equipped with a mechanical limited slip differential. The driven wheels cant spin if PSM is on, at least just a little till the system intervenes, they can try it but are hold by the brakes (ABS-PSM), take note that an electronically system cant replace a mechanical system, and act different. Concerning the tyre wear, there are several patterns of wear, shoulders, middle or full tread. If there is a difference in wear, over the FULL tread, between the left and right driven wheel, it means mostly brutal taken corners to the right or the left with a little spin, which the electronic version can not avoid before acting. Left tyre wear=left corner, right tyre wear=right corner, always the inner corner wheel. Hope it helps a little.

Yes it did THANK YOU SO MUCH.

As stated, the inner tread of the tire will wear faster than the outer tread, due to negative camber of the rear wheels...the more negative camber, the more severe, the greater the wear. I run 2.5 degrees negative on the rear of my car, which is lower than stock. It is not a daily driver, so I'm not concerned over wear...the rubber will get hard before they wear out. Mechanical diff is not necessary on these cars, as they don't have enough torque to really take advantage of the limited slip.
