Does anyone have a how to article that they can point me to for an Aerokit 1 sideskirt installation? I just got a set of these OEM version 1 skirts (seen in the attached pic below), and also have the mounting kit, but there's only a TSB here on Renntech for the Aerokit 2 skirts. My hardware kit came with 6 filler pieces (3 for each side) instead of only 2 filler pieces that the version 2 skirts utilize, and so I'm not sure where those 6 pieces go under the skirts upon installation.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thx.

Do a search of the 986 TSBs for "aerokit".

You will find TSB:

2/98 6315 Installing the Aerokit Front Spoiler, Rear Spoiler and Side Member Panels -- dated Sep 4, 1998

Ok, I read that TSB like 10 times, and I'm still confused... Do those 3 filler pieces or "templates" as they call them stay on, or are they used solely to position the retaining strip, and then you remove them prior to affixing the skirts? Also, my skirts didn't come with the retaining strips.. Can I just use double sided tape instead and all those clips/screws?

The templates are just to mark the positions.

You could try just the double stick tape but Porsche's idea is that once attached they don't come off - except in an accident repair.

The factory installed sideskirts on my 996 Aerokit are both screwed and epoxied on.

Many thanks for clarifying that Loren. Since I don't have the retaining strips, and Porsche doesn't seem to sell them by themselves, I'll try the tape as well as using the screws/clips to fasten the underside and the screws in the front/rear of the skirt. Hopefully, that'll do the job. Thanks again!
