A few months back I would get a clunck when turning hard and the suspension was in the highest level.

Gradually, the clunking become more and more often. Not, it happenes when I turn hard and/or have the suspension compress, like when braking.

I assume it's a bushing or something like that. I'm pretty sure it's not a CV joint or bearning. I'm pretty sure it's a suspension part.

Any ideas or previous experience?

i have a similar issue, replaced one drop link and will do the otherside as soon as the snow melts around my area. Hope that solves the clunk noise.

Did you notice any unusual tire wear?

I'm going to jack the car up this weekend. Is it obvious what part is making the noise, i.e. is there worn bushing, etc, to see?

Let us know the outcome. I have the same issue, though not a frequent; if I gover over a speed bump or off my driveway there is a clunk in the passenger side wheel well only. I`m going to be checking al the mounts and sways/drop/etc.

Did you end up getting this fixed? My wife's CTT is doing the same thing, making a suspension noise on the passenger side. I'd like to know what it is before I end up with another expensive dealer repair that doesn't fix the problem.

Sorry about the delay. Yes, I found-out. The clunking noise is the failure of the front bushing on the lower-control arm To repair you have two option. Remove the control arm and press-in a new bushing at about $600 or just replace the lower control arm (at $800ish) which, which gives you a new bushing in both the front and back and also gives you a new ball joint. I did some research and dealers are seeing the bushings go, but not a lot. And ball joints are going-out around 100k miles. So, I decided to replace the lower control arm since the other bushing was pretty worm already too. The dealer suggested I replace both since the bushings on the driver's side was also showing wear, but I couldn't get myself to throw-down another $800 for something that wasn't actually worn-out.

Thanks for the update. I will try in get the car in for the repair. Mine doesn't seem to affect the suspension at all, just makes a bit of noise. I thought at first it was from the car being in freezing temps and creaking a bit before warming up. Nice to have some info before getting blindsided by an overzealous shop! You didn't say this, but I do imagine this solved the problem, right?

Well, finally got in to replace the lower a arms. The stealer said the bushing were bad and that was causing the noise. I took the vehicle to an indy to have the work done. After fixing them though the noise was still there. I checked the old a arms and saw the bushings that were cracked, so they did need to replaced, but now I'm stuck with the same issue after spending 1k. The shop tells me that I should replace the front right and left suspension. That will only be another 4 to 5k. Not worth it in my book to stop a rattle. I don't normally hear it when the stereo is on. Would the replacing the drop links be a better option? I see that they are only 30 dollars from Pelican. I'm not into chasing the noise with my pocketbook. Especially when we're talking a couple of grand.

Finally got it figured out after a few years. Ended up at the dealer who replaced the lower swing arms again, which didn't fix it. Then they replaced the suspension mounts which did. Just in case anyone else has this happen. One time where I wish I would have used the dealer from the start. I had two shops want to replace the full suspension at a cost of around $6000. Glad I at least didn't make that mistake!

What suspension mounts did they replace? The lower control arm big end bushings are the only ones I've seen wear. Do you have a parts description/number?

I had the same problem and I had bought two lower control arm bushings from the Net and replaced them myself without removing the ball joint or strut. worked perfect after.

I will check the bill if I can locate it. I am back on the forum now checking out what other noises I can now hear after having the suspension one fixed :cursing:

The suspension noise would drown everything out.
