How do I access the engine on my 05 Boxster? I don't have an owners manual to look it up.

Same access as on the earlier 986's, except that there are four (torx ?) screws instead of the hand-operated clips on the engine compartment cover.

I don't remember what year Porsche started the practice, but at some point (2007?) they even stopped putting the procedure in the manuals.

Do a search here for the details with pics, but essentially, you have to open the top about 10 or so inches, unlatch the rear black vinyl apron from its clips on the rear firewall, pull up the rear main bow of the convertible top frame and wrap the velcro strap that you find under that bow to the left front tongue on the front of the convertible top.

Then, remove the speaker box (if you have one), remove the carpet pad which is on top of the engine, then unscrew those four Torx screws and pull off the plastic panel and voila! There's the engine.

Regards, Maurice.
