04 Cayenne S trunk sensor

Has anyone else's trunk sensor gone bad? I have shut my door probably 20 times or so and every time it fails to activate the sensor. Is this an easy fix or should i take it in to be replaced/repaired?

I have had the same problem, dealer could not fix it and said fo me to just slam the thing hard. I have found that if I open a door, like the driver door and then slam it hard, I ususally have success easier.

If your dealer is unable to adjust a door/lock as it should, i would find an other dealer.

Yeah I recently took mine in to the dealer and asked them to look at it. I'm pretty sure they literally looked at it because as soon as i hopped back in my car the alert tone sounded. Does anyone know where i could order a sensor unit replacement to just swap it out myself.

For the owners of an older Cayenne (without retraction system): remove the back door catcher-create with a file elongated holes in the catcher ground plate, so you can pull/slide the catcher a few m.m. backwards-adjust the catcher so that the back door is free of noise and will close with normal force. Use normal headed stainless steel bolts instead of the OEM conical head bolts, install spring washers between the bolt heads and the catcher ground plate. You should never slam the back door anymore.

No, there are no pics available, since it was no "official" action, it was just a tip given on dealers with questions about the, from the production, non adjustable catcher. It is a very simple action with good result, it is unnecessary to possess a degree in mechanics to do this modification.

just to confirm, by catcher do you mean the mechanism on the lid, or the body?

The catcher (hook) is located in the trunk, on the floor.

I'm not sure if my problem is the same issue as described here.

In my case sometimes the hatch won't open. That is when I press the release button the actuator doesn't release. If I give the hatch a "technical tap" where the actuator is mounted it will drive to the open position when I press the release button.....Initially I thought it was the actuator or a position switch in the actuator, but after reading this thread I'm beginning to think it may be the door closed sensor.

Any thoughts on this??
