Hi

I wanted to know if anyone can comment on whether the oil filter insert is interchangeable with the 996 3.4 engines.

The parts guy at the dealership told me they were, although parts numbers are slightly different. 996-107-225-53 (955) vs 996-107-225-60 (996)

I've done plenty of oil changes in my cayenne, and bought bulk filters and seal rings.

As I said Parts at the dealer said no problem, but they have been wrong before.....

Just wanted to check before I dump the oil on my 996.

Cheers

Thanks Loren you beat me too it..

I think I just found the answer, the part ending in 60 is for the 2002 carrera onwards, while the part ending in 53 is the for 99-01 carreras but also fits the cayennes.

Thanks

I own both, so does that means the 996 filter 99-01 will fit a cayenne?.

Yes, they will fit the MY03-06 Cayenne S and Turbo (but not the V6).

Fitment is one thing, but would there be a difference in filter performance between the different part#'s mentioned above?

JP

I am using information from Porsche part list and it shows those (.52 and .53 filter) for both Carrera/Boxster and Cayenne.

So, same part numbers for both cars.
