I hev been reading all the post but no one really commits on way or the other. I know there is quality issue with the bushings. I guess I am looking for someone who has saved money by purchasing a short shifter that cost less than the B&M and has had good luck with it. I was really disappointed to hear that B&M would not sell Pedro a part he needed that had worn out. With a Lifetime Warranty and as much exposure he has on this site it looks as if they would have helped out.

The odds of it being built with the quality of the B&M are slim. B&M manufactures them for Porsche. I personally think trying to save $100 + on something vital for your car would be a shame. I am not familiar with the ebay version other than speculating, its most likely made in China!

Do yourself a favor, go to bumperplugs (has the best deals), get the B&M , I did, perfect upgrade, no complaints

I cant speak for the ebay shifter, but I recently purchased a B&M from bumperplugs. I installed the unit myself. I was pretty surprised at how easy the installation was and how well made the shifter was. I havent been able to get the shifter to self center yet but I havent had much time to play with it.

All in all, id recommend the B&M. The shifts are crisp and smooth, a bit notchy but in a good way. Id say for something that is used as much as the shifter put in the extra $$$

Has any one tried one of the short shifters on ebay? They look very similar to the B & M for less than half the cost.

I have been using the Azrinc short shfter from ebay for two years. It works great. It is also a little notchy. You will have to reverse the handle for the lean. It is easy, just remove the bolt, twist 180 degrees and reinstall the bolt. They ship this way so they don't get sued for knock off.

If you keep your reciepts B&M will be there to replace it if it ever fails. Good luck with the Chinese Version...
