Thinking out loud.... What would it take to convert a MY02 996TT (mine...) to a 996TT S? I know of the X50 kit, PCCB brakes and "S" rear lid decal ( :lol:).

1 - Is there anything else required?

2 - Is it cost effective in terms of driving pleasure? Bear in mind I don't track my car regularly; it's my daily driver.

3 - How much do you estimate this conversion would cost? Thinking in the 20,000 euro region, done in Porsche Center.

4 - Am I correct in that the PCCB brakes have an advantage only in fatigue, not in actual braking power or reduction of braking distances?

There is no X50 "kit" that I am aware of....

so you want to upgrade your turbos, ECU, exhaust, ICs...perhaps some gears (although this is debated) and add PCCBs

IMHO, you would be better of getting hybrid turbos, an aftermarket ECU flash, an excellent aftermarket exhaust (like EPs), DVs, new suspension/coilovers and some new rubber. Forget the poseur S emblem and the brakes.

the X50 option was like 17800 (US) PCCBs another 10K or so...Yikes.

1. Intercoolers, turbos, muffler, clutch, and perhaps more...

2. There is definitely a difference from an X50 car to a normal TT (IMHO).

3. I doubt a Porsche center would do it - they have to warranty their work. A 3rd party Porsche shop might do it but I would try to find one that has done it before.

4. PCCB advantages are light weight, fast response, little or not fading under extreme loads, and long life (under normal conditions). Disadvantages are replacement cost - very high.

It might be less expensive to sell your TT and find an X51 TT or TT S.
