I have an odd issue with the time setting on my PCM. The clock doesn't keep proper time. Each time I set it within a week I can see it's slow. After about 3 weeks it's 15 minutes slow. How can this be? All other functions work perfectly. The car is still under factory warranty. Should I take it to the "dreaded" dealer and have them check it out?

Thanks!

This is an known issue. There has been discussions either here or 6speed.com.

My clock loses about a minute a day and I reset it weekly if I can remember

how to find it in the PCM. Some people thought it had to do with the GPS

but I don't have that option.

How's your wife's camera?

Wifes camera? Oh I remember...I said I would post pictures.. I guess I have failed miserably at that.

Regarding the clock issue....

I don't have the GPS option either. Interesting that a German clock wouldn't be able to keep proper time lol! So I guess I will just live with it. Has anyone been able to solve the issue? No fix from Porsche? My 996's kept perfect time....

Thanks for the reply..

Cool. That seems like the best solution...

I still think it's pretty funny that a $90k car can't keep time.... :(

Who cares what time it is in your Porsche anyway right? :jump:

Phillipj, do you mean that there is something wrong with the synchronisation of the time keeping on the dash and the time keeping on the PCM, or is it only the clock setting on the PCM? You have to know that there is no real clock inside a PCM, the time is send by Radio Data System from a master clock, located in the corresponding time zone. All you can do manually is, choice of the time zone, 24h or 12h display, date and clock setting/correction, summer/winter time. If the settings are done carefully and as it should, let check the issue out, maybe a typical issue in areas where two different time zones and their radio stations (FM) overlap each other? I've never seen this issue here.

RFM,

Interesting... I have no idea why a clock setting should be so complex. All I know is I set the time using the instructions from the manual on the PCM. I always have to set the clock again because it is slow.

I believe that the time in the dash and the time on the PCM are the same. I will have to take alook to confirm that....

It is not possible to set the time in the dash like in the 996 (although the same control stalk is there it doesn't function.)

I'm going to have the car checked out for some other issues while it's still under factory warranty. I'll ask them about the clock issue.

Thanks!

I set mine using the little knob with the clock face just below the oil pressure gauge, and the clock's pretty accurate. But setting the PCM is indeed WAY too complicated! Last night I couldn't shut up the nagging Navi lady constantly telling me to "turn right then left"!

355,

I don't have the Navi option. I can't set the time using the knob by the pressure guage. It doesn't work. I will see if the dealer can shed some light on this for me.

Thanks!
