After working on the car with the battery disconected the driver window will not go down. I hear the click like a reley in the door when I operate the switches, latch etc. I did the 5 sec reset with no succes. It's the regulator or the motor?

The motors very rarely go, but it is not completely unheard of. You will have to remove the door panel to narrow it down.

After you have removed the door panels a couple of times, it becomes so easy you will wonder what was so difficult in the first place.

Regards, Maurice.

Maurice,

One of the jobs on my 'things-to-do' list for this weekend is to replace window regulator on my Boxster MY03. You have given me some confidence for this first time job.

My main concern is the driver's door airbag. Would really appreciate guidance on how to ensure that it doesn't go off in the process of removing the door panel.

Thank you.

I did the window regulator a few weeks ago. open the door, put down the top, and trip the door latch with a screw driver, this makes the door think it's shut and the window will go all of the way up (you need to reach the two clamp screws that hold the glass.

Disconnect the battery and leave it alone for ten minutes before you mess with the air bag. The bag is held to the door with 4 nuts, take it easy on the connectors when you unplug it, then unbolt it and set it aside.

Another tip is to get a set of the door panel tools, I got the blue set from harbor freight for $6, make it easy to pop the panel off with damaging anything. You'll need duct tape or something similar to patch the plastic vapor barrier, you'll tear it I promise.

It's an easy job, take your time.

I'm now in the early stages of removing the door panel. I've managed to get as far as popping all the door clip panels - but the panel appears still to be attached somewhere.

I've removed the T30 screw next to the door handle and a Philips head screw behind the door handle itself. However, the door handle and plastic piece holding the microswitches still won't come loose.

As we're both MY03 cars, any help on what might be the problem would be much appreciated.

Regards
