Hi all - I have tried to search this with no luck.

I just got my 2006 997 c2 this week - and it has been parked in the garage. I installed my pigtail - hardwire leads for my battery maintainer and lucky me - cross threaded the nut on the battery post!

So after dremeling off the bolt and replacing it - I should be good to go.

Issues:

1) Pretty sow to start - The car has been at the dealer for probably 2-3 months with little use and no charging. I have left it on the trickle over night to see if that makes an initial improvemnet then I will get the battery tested and replace if necessary (car is a 2006, but went into service in aug 2005 so the battery is 4 yrs old - and the car has 40,000 KM on it)

2) If I have to replace the battery - is a radio code requirred? i have the PCM with nav/telephone etc - just wondering if it is coded to the vehicle like the cd23 is in my cayenne

3) I now have the system fault code - must be from messing with the battery - will this reset with use as it relearns? I am not sure if I lost any battery connectiong during my dremel surgery!

Thanks in advance

Brent

1. Have your battery load tested and also test each cell's specific gravity.

2. No. It is pre-programmed in the DME. You would only need to change it if the physical radio or NAV were changed.

3. Yes, there are some some faults are triggered on loss of power supply (battery). You would need to tell us the fault to be sure.

Had the battery tested - just running at 50% after being on trickle over night - it is a new battery aparently. It started much better today then yesterday.

On the info display - all I can get is system fault - report to workshop - hopefully it will relearn itself otherwise a friend has the durametric pro.

Ran on the durametric - took a while to clear but it did - error messages on dash, but still had trouble clearing:

Gateway 8007 - incorrect coding

c127 communication error front control unit

c1 control unit faulty

any suggestions ?
