As a brand new member I apologize in advance if this has been posted before. Here, in South West France, we have the usual Porsche Main Dealers where the service is normally very good but cuts you off from the "secrets of the workshop" However we are fortunate to also have a local independent who not only lets you see what they are doing to your cherished vehicle but will also give technical advice (at no charge) as well.

I was seriously looking for a 996 earlier this year and started with the main dealer. I have to say I was very well treated and the Porsche network located a number of good potential examples. My only concern was the clear higher prices they charge for providing their guarantees. However I was fortunate to meet another local Porsche owner who directed me to this independent.

The bottom line was I found exactly to model and year I was looking for and paid 10K€ under the dealers price. The car came with the same level of guarantee and all my additional requests were responded to. Clearly you don't go to this guy if you are looking to buy new but he really covers the area of concern i.e. provenance, for any purchase of a used model.

Since buying my car I have "dropped in" on a number of occasions and found many others like me discussing various technical topics with the team. I have found them to be more than willing to help you with technical advice on any DIY tasks you are thinking of doing. In fact you are treated like an extended family!

I strongly recommend any other Porsche enthusiasts (the sort who are found on forums like this) to drop in there if they are located in this area of just passing through on the was to the Med.
