Hi all

I need to have my coolant expansion tank replaced. Coolant started leaking from the left tailpipe the other day. At first I thought I had blown a head gasket but when I took a closer look I saw it was the coolant tank. Anyway I am gathering quotes and would like to ask the members of this forum if they have had experience with this replacement. Labor and parts. As always thank you for the replies.

I think my indy charged me 400 bucks. You can do it yourself with the diy directions on this site, I would have but my waterpump blew as I was driving down the highway and had to get to safety before I damaged the engine. So while it was at the shop they replaced the (first) cracked coolant tank as well.

The tank was about $110 and DIY was pretty easy. You just have to take your time putting it back in since it's tight. I have done it two times. Keep the receipt for the tank, since they have warranty...

Replace the tank and the cap

Based on my repair bill

Tank cost $126

Cap $21.05 (if you have already upgraded the cap you may not need to replace this part)

Anti-freeze $14 (if you do the repair $45-$50 for 1 gallon)

I replaced some of the hoses for the tank and other work that was being done at the same time $75

Labor 2-2.5 hours
