Snow Tires - Pirelli versus Nitto

Hi,

I was looking to put on Pirelli's Winter SCORPION™ ICE & SNOW on my 08 Cayenne S but the local tire store is recommending Nitto NT 850. Any suggestions or comments on either?

The Pirelli's are real winter tires the Nittos are not.

Only use tires that are branded with the snowflake-on-the-mountain symbol on them.

I have a 2008 Cayenne Turbo and I purchased a set of MICHELIN Latitude Alpin's, If you are lucky enough to find the MICHELIN Latitude Alpin HP grab them fast, they are hard to find... Granted I needed them for 20".

TireRack has them at a good price, but you need to look them up by tire size.

The Latitude Alpin is Michelin's Light Truck/SUV Performance Winter tire developed for the drivers of all-wheel drive crossover and sport utility vehicles. The Latitude Alpin is designed to combine a smooth, quiet ride and long wear with traction on cold, wet, snow-covered and icy roads.

I got my Pirelli's last winter and it did a great job.I'm happy with the result and it's very reliable for winter season.

+1 Pirelli Snow and Ice. Just unstoppable in the snow. The only downside is they may make you overconfident and it will aggravate you how slowly everyone else is driving! I rarely get much ABS activation unless it's very icy or under heavy braking in packed snow.

actually had a lot of driving in the UK snow this year - upto 12" mixed hardpack & powder & Ice

only vehicle moving around here for days :)

I also have Michelin Latitude Alpin and they works perfectly... and man - we do have real winter here in Finland ;)
