I'm doing some work on my bros 2002 facelift 996 carrera 2. One thing he pointed out was the car is not blowing cold air, or on ocassion it does but rarely. Has anyone ever come accross this and any advise? Its nothing to do with the aircon needing gassed as the blower doesnt blow cold with AC off.

Thanks..........

by any chance is the ignition switch going bad?

or if not, it may be about do go...

maybe try jiggling the key a little bit, see if that helps.

there is a great write up on here that shows the process... not too hard a job.

Hi,

He never mentioned any problems with the ignition and I was testing the car for 2 days and didnt really notice anything either?

Can you let me know why the ignition would cause the blower not to blow cold?

Yesterday the blower was fine and was cold, today when testing it was ok for a hour and then the blower was warm.

Can you point me to the write up you mentioned please.

Thanks

Probably a temp. sensor fault (outside or inside sensor, or implausible signal between those sensors and the control box). A diagnostic tool can help you out.

I seem to remember that if a system is low on refrigerant it will sometimes still work if the OAT is so low that cooling is not required.

Hi,

Found the outside temp sensor ok, it had actually fallen out of place and laying inside the bumper, so I put it back in its place.

Where is the inside temp sensor located?
