Hi - First time posting and was doing some research on my problem for a 2000 Carrera C2. Autozone read the code as P1198:Oxygen sensing adaptation, idle range, bank 1. What is the corrective measure- replacing the O2S? What else should I consider?

:welcome:

I believe your fault code is P1128 (there is no P1198).

P1128 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation, Idle Range, Bank 1 – Above Limit

Possible causes:

– Incorrect signal from MAF sensor

– Intake air system leaking

– Fuel pressure too low

– Volume supply of fuel pump too low

– Fuel injectors fouled

– Exhaust system leaking

Loren - thanks for correcting my error on the fault code... it is P1128. Is there a way to clear the fault code after addressing some of the obvious. I suspect the fuel cap may not have been tightened all the way which may have caused a fuel pressure issue. After refueling and tightening the fuel cap, I plan on driving for a few more days to see if the check engine light will go out.

A loose fuel cap would give a different fault code (fault P0455).

You have an air leak on the intake side.

Possible causes are many. Bad seal on the oil filler cap, cracked oil filler hose, tube from air cleaner not properly seated/sealed, air oil separator bad, AOS bellows cracked, or a bad MAF.

If you do not feel comfortable finding the cause then I suggest you take car to a good Porsche shop.

Thanks Loren. I have checked the oil filler cap and the obvious visible items. I 'm heading to our local Porsche dealer on Thursday for a repair of this problem. :help: I will repost on the details of what Porsche reports. Thanks much for your help.
